Environmental Preservation and Strengthening Ecological Values Based on Tri Hita Karana at Bhuvana Kertha Temple
Malang, 29 November 2024. In order to increase awareness of the importance of environmental preservation based on local values, Community Service activities with the theme "Environmental Preservation and Strengthening Ecological Values Based on Tri Hita Karana" were successfully carried out on Friday, 29 November 2024, at Bhuvana Kertha Temple , Blahbatuh Village.
This activity was initiated by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences and involved local communities, traditional stakeholders and various community elements around the Bhuvana Kertha Temple. Through this activity, the values of Tri Hita Karana, namely the harmonious relationship between humans and God, humans and each other, and humans and the environment are integrated into real action for nature conservation.
The series of activities started with environmental clean-up actions in the temple area and its surroundings. The participants, including village residents and volunteers, worked together to clean up the rubbish and sort it according to the principles of sustainable waste management. After the environmental cleanup action, all participants prayed together at Bhuvana Kertha Temple to ask for safety, natural balance and blessings in an effort to maintain environmental harmony. The activity ended with a group discussion on the theme of implementing Tri Hita Karana values in everyday life. This discussion was guided by traditional leaders and academics, discussing concrete steps for environmental preservation based on local wisdom, such as keeping temples clean, reducing the use of plastic, and planting trees in the surrounding area.
The activity coordinator, Anik Prabawati, said that this activity was a real form of synergy between indigenous peoples, academics and local communities to create a better environment. "By integrating the Tri Hita Karana values in our daily activities, we can maintain a balance between spirituality and nature conservation," he said. This activity also received appreciation from the local community who considered it an important step to preserve cultural heritage and the environment in a sustainable manner.
