BICoSP Invites Speakers from Abroad to Discuss the Future of Social Sciences in a Networked Society

Denpasar, As the first international conference, BICoSP organized by the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences Udayana presents international academics as a trigger to explore the relationship between social science, network society, and sustainability that are relevant to current conditions. BICoSP also seeks to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss and exchange ideas, in helping to shape a more sustainable and inclusive future. (10/07/2023)
The Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University (FISIP Udayana) held the first "Bali International Conference on Social and Political Sciences" or BICoSP with the theme "The Future of Social and Political Sciences in a Networked Society for Sustainability." This inaugural activity was carried out in a hybrid manner, which took place at the Udayana Social Sciences Hall, and via Webex. The BICoSP agenda is divided into 4 main parts, namely the opening, plenary session I, plenary session II, and parallel sessions.
At the opening, there was a performance of the national anthem as well as remarks by the Dean of the Udayana Faculty of Social Sciences, Dr. Drs. I Nengah Punia, M.Sc., and Udayana Chancellor Prof. Dr. Ir. I Nyoman Gde Antara, M.Eng.,IPU., who also opened the activities of this conference. Then, it was continued with the plenary session I which consisted of a presentation from the keynote speaker, Dr. Thor Kerr from Curtin University, Australia, with Dr. Ni Made Ras Amanda Gelgel from Udayana University, and guided by Ni Nyoman Clara L.D, S.IP, M.A. In this session, the focus is on discussing technology and the internet technically and their implications for the socio-political life of today's society.
Furthermore, the second plenary session included keynote speaker Owen Podger, M.Arch., from the Professional Associate of the University of Canberra, Australia, together with I Ketut Putra Erawan, Phd., from Udayana University, and guided by Ni Wayan Radita N.P, S.S, M.A, M. Phil. In this segment, the discussion focuses on the obstacles to the wise use of technology in government, as well as the future of political science, especially from the perspective of the global south. After the presentation in each plenary session there is a discussion session.
Apart from being attended by 197 participants who will present their manuscripts at the conference, there were also a number of students from the Faculty of Social Sciences and Udayana who participated in asking questions during the discussion session. The next agenda is a parallel session, where the speakers present their research according to the twelve (12) topics discussed in this international conference. This activity ended with a group photo activity with all the keynote speakers and chairman of BICoSP 2023, Putu Nomy Yasintha, S.Sos., M.PA, and awarding certificates to the speakers. (Ritaro)
