DENPASAR – The Communication Science Study Program of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Udayana University once again presents a scientific discussion space through a National Seminar with the theme "Swinging Journalism: History and Media Survival Strategies in Power Structures", at the 4th Floor FISIP Hall, Udayana University on Jalan Sudirman Denpasar, on Monday, September 15, 2025.

This seminar presented two keynote speakers: Dr. Abie Besman, an academic from Padjadjaran University, and Dr. Phil. Dewi Yuri Cahyani, S.Sos., M.Sc., Vice Dean 2 of FISIP UNUD and an academic from the Communication Science Study Program at UNUD. The participants' enthusiasm was very good, as evidenced by the internal academic community's enthusiastic questions and lively discussions with the two speakers. In addition, participants from outside the campus, including academics from Padjadjaran University and online participants who joined via Zoom Meeting, also attended the event until the end.

Calvin Damasemil, S.I.Kom., M.Si., a lecturer in Communication Studies at Udayana University and Chair of the Organizing Committee, emphasized that this seminar serves as an academic forum to understand how journalism is coping with changing times. "Through this scientific meeting, we hope to create a shared understanding of how journalism can adapt to technological innovation and social media pressures, while maintaining content quality and the sustainability of its business model," he said.

The presence of two academics with diverse backgrounds enriched the discourse on the history of journalism, power dynamics, and media survival strategies in the digital era. This discussion also affirmed the commitment of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) of Udayana University to creating a critical and constructive space for the development of communication science in this challenging era.
