"The Story Behind the Shell" by Communication Science Students at Udayana University Stuns at the 2024 iSee Festival

Gianyar – Saturday, 19 October 2024, Kulidan Kitchen and Space witnessed the enthusiasm of film and visual arts lovers at the iSee Festival event organized by UKM iSee Undiknas Photography and Cinematography. One of the highlights of this festival is the screening of the film entitled "Cerita di Balik Tempurung", a creative work produced by a team of Communication Science students at Udayana University.

The documentary film "Cerita di Balik Tempurung" raises the important theme of preserving turtles in Bali, which are protected animals and have a crucial role in the marine ecosystem. This film also shows that the use of turtles as a means of traditional ceremonies in Bali does not necessarily reduce the turtle population. Through stunning visuals and a touching story, this film successfully conveys a strong message about the importance of environmental awareness and nature conservation. For 15 minutes, the audience was invited to dive into the story of the life journey of sea turtles, the challenges they face due to human activities, as well as the efforts of the community and activists to maintain the survival of this species.

This screening event received a warm welcome from the audience. They were not only amazed by the beautiful cinematography, but also touched by the story that educates about increasingly pressing conservation issues.

This year's iSee Festival is a forum for visual artists to display their inspiring works. Apart from the film “Cerita di Balik Tempurung”, this festival also displays several short films, photography exhibitions and talk shows. It is hoped that this event can continue to support student creativity in the fields of cinematography and photography.
