Public Speaking and Creative Content Training as an Introduction to the Communication Science Study Program through New Student Socialization and Community Service at Gili Trawangan Tourism Vocational School

Lecturers from the Communication Science Study Program, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University, have successfully held new student socialization activities and community service at the Gili Trawangan Tourism Vocational School. The activity which took place from 12 to 14 June 2024 carried the theme "Public Speaking Training and Creative Content Creation" with the aim of introducing students to the world of communication.

In this activity, the lecturers provide training that focuses on public speaking skills and creating creative content. Through this training, students are taught various techniques and strategies to increase their confidence when speaking in front of many people and how to create interesting and informative content.

Apart from training, this activity also aims to introduce the Udayana University Communication Science study program to prospective new students. The socialization of prospective new students is expected to provide a clear picture of the study programs offered, career opportunities in the field of communication, as well as various facilities and activities in the Communication Science Study Program, FISIP, Udayana University.

The entire activity received a positive response from students and the school. "We are very grateful to the lecturers from Udayana University who have provided valuable knowledge and experience to our students. Public speaking skills and creative content creation are very relevant to the current needs of the tourism industry," said Mr. Saeful Fahmi, S.Pd. as Principal of the Gili Trawangan Tourism Vocational School.

The Gili Trawangan Tourism Vocational School students also enthusiastically welcomed this activity and actively participated in public speaking practice sessions and creating creative content. In practice, students immediately practice overcoming nervousness, creating interesting presentations, and producing interesting and relevant social media content. One of the students even enthusiastically presented the natural beauty of Gili Trawangan using public speaking techniques that had been shared by lecturers at the FISIP Communication Studies Program, Udayana University.

These activities aim to equip Tourism Vocational School students with effective communication skills, both for their current education and their future careers. Where public speaking skills and creating creative content are very valuable in this digital era, so with the training provided students are better prepared to face challenges in the world of work, especially in the tourism industry which really needs good communication skills.

Through this activity, it is also hoped that it can strengthen relations between the world of higher education and vocational high schools, as well as providing a sustainable positive impact on society. Both parties also hope that this activity can continue in the future, opening up more opportunities for collaboration between Udayana University and Gili Trawangan Tourism Vocational School in various other educational and training programs. This community service is part of the commitment of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Udayana University, in making real contributions and applying science in a broader context.
