Sociology Assisted Villages: A Real Manifestation of HIMASOS' Community Service
The Sociology Assisted Village program is one of the flagship programs of the Community Service Department, Sociology Student Association, Udayana University. This program is designed to implement one of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, namely community service, which focuses on mentoring and empowering village communities. Villages selected for the Assisted Village program are determined based on observations of several potential villages. Analysis of existing problems in the village and potential solutions is crucial.
Tihingan Village, Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency was selected as the 2025 Sociology Assisted Village. The reason for selecting this village is because based on observations conducted, it was discovered that the main problem in this village is related to plastic waste sorting. Why is this problem interesting? Because of the Klungkung Government's policy regarding plastic waste sorting, which in this village itself is still not optimal in this regard. This problem is the focus in designing the Assisted Village activities which are expected to be able to encourage environmental awareness while strengthening the social identity of the village community.
There are 4 series in the Sociology Assisted Village Activities this time which are held every week starting from June 14, June 21, June 28, and July 5, 2025. The programs provided in this activity include cleaning the village environment with the Malu Dong Community and sorting waste according to type, socialization of waste sorting to students from 3 elementary schools in Tihingan Village, making crafts from inorganic waste, and an exhibition of inorganic waste crafts that have been made. Based on the programs that have been provided, it is hoped that it can become a forum for shared learning as well as a driving force for meaningful and sustainable change in the future.
